Trend Micro is a newcomer to my list of recommended Anti-Virus / Internet Security software, and Titanium is a new brand. It continually achieves a perfect malware detection score, protecting against 100% of threats.
The firewall is not the best around allowing access to a TCP port known to be used by Trojans but this is not a deal breaker.
The software is average on resource usage, 121Mb RAM footprint which adds around 1 second to the actual boot-time and then an additional 8 seconds to finally initialise.
The spam filter and email scanner are useful if you use a desktop mail client. The parental controls let you restrict web browsing on a per-user basis, but doesn't offer anything that can't be had for free via Windows Family Safety.
Finally, data theft protection prevents certain information from being sent from your computer, except to authorised destinations. You can ensure your credit card details can't go anywhere except to approved online retailers, for example. It's a neat idea, but a chore if you deal with lots of websites. Despite these issues, Titanium Internet Security 2011 is a very good program due to impeccable real-world protection, a clearly labeled and logically arranged interface, and the price at around £22 for up to 3 PC's per 12 months.

The box says 2011, but the software itself is identical to the 2010 edition. McAfee Internet Security 2011 could do with an interface upgrade though. In the user interface, for example, all the program controls appear in dropdown menus and pop-up panes in the main window, in theory, that should keep everything neat and tidy, but in practice it's simply confusing to navigate.
The software's also incredibly slow to initialise and it will add approximately 4 seconds to the boot-time on most PC’s, it takes a further 22 seconds of further CPU usage before the software is ready to go. Thankfully, at 117MB, its memory footprint isn't too shocking.
McAfee performs quite well in detecting viruses but he worst part is McAfee's performance in malware protection which is terrible. The firewall is not very effective either.
McAfee Internet Security 2011 does have a few plus points though, one being the built-in backup module with a gigabyte of online storage, it's all fatally undermined by poor performance in most common malware tests and it is one of the most expensive suites currently available too.
There are much better performing Internet security programs available that do not add as much time to your boot-time, and which start much quicker once you are in Windows.

There is one very dangerous rogue which has just recently become a huge threat to computer users everywhere. This rogue goes by the name of Antivirus 8 and is guaranteed to cause you many computer problems.
The problems that one may experience, should your computer system becomes infected with Antivirus 8, are annoying false computer security warnings which will alert you to threats that you have on your computer system that do not even exist. The only real threat is the malicious Antivirus 8 program itself which needs to be removed upon immediate detection.
Antivirus 8 is dangerous and is only going to result in many negative consequences for both your bank balance and your computer system. It is therefore essential that you remove Antivirus 8 immediately upon detection, because if left your computer system will decrease in performance.
When Antivirus8 is installed it will be configured to start automatically when Windows starts. Once started it will perform a scan on your computer and when finished it will state that your computer is infected with a variety of Malware. If you attempt to use the program to remove any of the Malware it finds, it will state that you first need to purchase the Antivirus 8 program before it will remove anything. This is a complete scam as the scan results are all fake and many of the listed files are actually legitimate files and if removed could cause at the very worst, irreparable damage to your computers operating system. Therefore, do not manually remove any of the items it displays in its scan results.
While Antivirus 8 is running it will also display alerts and warnings that attempt to scare you into thinking your computer has a serious security problem. These alerts will state that personal information is being stolen, active Malware has been found, or that you are using unlicensed software.
Antivirus 8 will also attempt to protect itself by not allowing you to run various programs that may assist in removing it. When you attempt to run these types of programs, Antivirus 8 will terminate it and then state that the file is infected.
Without a doubt, Antivirus 8 was created for one reason; to scare you into thinking your computer has a security problem so that you will then purchase the program. It goes without saying that you should not purchase this program, and if you already have, please contact your credit card company to dispute the charge because the program is a scam and a computer infection.
